The housing market started strong in Simcoe County for 2024, as per the latest Market Report from the Barrie & District Association of REALTORS® (BDAR). January saw a significant boost in both sales and listings, with 378 units sold, marking a solid 15.60% increase compared to the same time last year. While average sale prices dipped slightly by 5.19% year-over-year to $790,292, the market has held steady, showing a nice balance between what’s for sale and what buyers are after.

What’s really catching attention is the surge in new listings, hitting a whopping 1,083 in January 2024, a staggering 123.76% jump from December 2023. This flood of fresh listings means buyers have more choices on the table, creating a fairer playing field. With sales on the rise, prices stable, and a surge in new listings, the housing market in Simcoe County looks set for some healthy growth and action in the months to come.
